A natural and episodic state of relaxing when a human being is unable to know what is going on in the real world is known as sleep. Sleep is distinguished from wakefulness by the reduced and inability to react to stimuli. There are two types of sleep; the REM and the non-REM. The REM is an abbreviation of the rapid eye movement while in the non-REM, there is no rapid eye movement. Sleep is important since it restores the nervous, immune and muscle systems. Insomnia, dyssomnia, sleepwalking, narcolepsy and others prevent a person from having a healthy sleep. A sleep schedule is the most important thing a parent should do. A schedule is a plan of activities or events. For a healthy growth, the baby needs a lot of services from his/her parent. They include cleaning the baby, feeding the baby, breastfeeding, playing, napping and sleeping. A schedule must be made detailing the time these activities should be done together with the duration. Small toddlers generally need more sleeping hours than the bigger toddlers. In the schedule, your baby should sleep or about 8-10 hours.
The next thing is training your baby on how to sleep. So as to avoid disturbance, a baby should be taught how to sleep without crying. The training includes coming up with a good sleeping routine, put the toddler to sleep early enough, establish a regular sleeping schedule and develop some signals and sounds to inform your child it’s time to sleep. Sleep training the baby will help the baby sleep through the night without waking up and crying before morning.
Third, one should change the diapers regularly. The wet diapers may make a child not to sleep well. A parent should ensure the baby is clean and dry before putting him/her to bed. Playing promotes sleep in babies. Comfortable and dry diapers will enable a toddler to play well and in turn, the baby will have quality sleep. The exhaustion as a result of playing will promote sleep. It is good to change the child diapers for about 5 times in a day. A parent should also ensure he/she uses the quality diapers.
It is advisable to always clean the baby before placing him/her on the bed. Wash the baby, change his/her clothes and oil him/her and you will see a change in the sleep patterns. The child should be in clean pajamas while sleeping. These will make a child feel comfortable while in bed and in turn have quality sleep.
